Women / People
The People /Women series shows figures identifying with their own story. They are thought-provoking and intended to speak to the viewer in a subliminal way, to show people, especially women, in a different way. The irony with which the figures appear. There image of women, which she mysteriously and gracefully fans out into caricature at crucial points, as if in passing. Her strong visual language, which lies not in beauty but in flaw.
QUOTE FROM A COLLECTOR
Ponte confuses the artistic tradition of accuracy with a cryptical fragmentation that reminds the observer of daydreams. She portrays women in such a tangibility which dissipates posthumously in the creation process and opposes the promise of female beauty. This happens for leaving the observer behind with increased mindfulness for her equation of fragility and fury which even includes stylistic considerations.
